Question by tornadolover: I think i have hyperhidrosis i’m 13 and a girl is it worth going to the doctor?
For those of you who don’t know hyperhidrosis is a condition where you sweat much more than the average person, we had a play rehearsal today and i had massive sweat marks under my arms, i wear black tops to try and hide it, i had to keep arms at my side very tightly! This happens all the time whether i’m hot, cold, nervous, calm. I didn’t realise until i went to the toilet, everyone must have saw! i haven’t been diagnosed, but i’m almost positive i have it but i can’t just go up to my mum and say “can we go to the doctor i think i have hyperhidrosis” i always wash in the morning and shower at night i put on an antiperspirant and deodorant. If i go to the doctor do they do tests to see if i have it? And would they give me anything to help me if i did have it? Because i am dying of embarrassment! I also get sweaty hands, but not as bad.

I had the same problem when I was 13. There’s no way to diagnose it with testing, but it definitely sounds like you have it and it would DEFINITELY be worth seeing a doctor. There’s a prescription antiperspirant called Drysol that worked miracles for me. There’s also the option of having botox injections in your armpits if that doesn’t work. Good luck, I know this sucks.
